The Royal Gathering is one of the most sought-after experiences on a Disney cruise — a free, reservation-required chance to meet several Disney princesses back-to-back in the ship's atrium. It is magical, it is quick, and it is genuinely hard to book. Here is how it works and how to get a spot.

What the Royal Gathering is

In one short session, usually under ten minutes, your family meets four or five princesses in a row. Which princesses appear varies by sailing and can include favorites like Rapunzel, Tiana, Belle, Moana, Cinderella, and Jasmine. Professional photographers capture the greetings, and you are free to take your own photos too.

Why it is so hard to book

Because it is free and extremely popular, demand far outstrips availability, and it often sells out within minutes of opening. It also opens later than most onboard activities, which catches many families off guard.

When booking opens

• Reservations open 30 days before your sail date at midnight Eastern Time for all guests.
• This is later than most activities, which repeat cruisers book earlier by loyalty tier and first-timers book around 75 days out.
• Concierge guests may be able to book earlier.

Tips to actually get a spot

• Be online and ready at midnight Eastern exactly 30 days before you sail.
• Know your preferred day and time in advance — decide before booking opens.
• If two adults are traveling, have one book the Royal Gathering while the other handles online check-in at the same time.
• Prefer a sea day or a port day you are staying onboard, so you do not lose island time.
• Select everyone in your party, adults and kids, when you book.

If you miss it

Keep checking before your cruise in case slots open, try again in the app when you reach the embarkation port, and ask at Guest Services or Port Adventures once you board. Cancellations do happen.
